Gran hotel Elba Estepona in Andalusia

The flight from Germany to Malaga lasted just 2,5 hours and our first look out of the window of the aeroplane shows us most beautiful sunbeams which refracted on the sea. We arrive our definite destination Estepona in only 50 minutes drive with the hire car, which is here the best option to explore this beautiful little place earth "Andalusia".
Past by Torremollinos and Marbella, Estepona is located further in the south; central to many sights and anyway something away from the great hustle and bustle. Places of excursions like Gibraltar, Seville, Malaga and the most famous, in the mountains situated "white village" Ronda can be reached ideally. Ronda- the view of the Puente Nueve to the 200 metres deep Tajo canyon is worthwhile.
Marbella is surely the best known, not least for its jet-set. Estepona however, although remoted even 10 km from the famous luxury port Puerto Banus from Marbella, is so quite different. Everything happens very leisurely and the audience is diversified. The holiday-makers in Estepona are rather like you and me.
4 and 5 stars hotels of the extra class at reasonable prices were built here the last years. One meets also promis, primarily but golf enthusiasts and families from all sorts of countries.
At a silent beach section, the Arena Beach, 3 km outside of the real centre of Estepona, a 5-star Gran luxe hotel- the Gran hotel Elba Estepona & Thalasso Spa, was opened in the year 2004. It belongs to the Elba hotel company which was founded first in 1997 and is known since then for its rapid and steady growth. In addition, it is a member of the Small Luxury hotels of the World, the Great hotels of the world and the Condé Nast Johansens and was already honoured repeatedly. The hotel group has already made a good name to itself under Spanish holiday-makers.
Our holiday can start now at the most beautiful sunshine and pleasant temperatures of 25 degrees. We have beginning of November and the Costa del Sol lives up to its name. With its over 300 sunny days per year it is definitely a whole annual destination.
Already of the outside the Gran hotel Elba Estepona impressives because of its size and its architecture. Coated with warm rust-red on the walls, combined with beige-coloured walls nestles unobtrusively and anyway prominently to its landscape and surroundings.
Single floors and terraces in different sizes and round, appearing turrets add up to an interesting and stylish atmosphere. Two heated outer pools lie in the extremely neat gardens, including little bridge and waterfall.
There is a partly roofed and heated year-roundly swimmingpool with a separate lawn for little cooler days. The pool service is excellent, hardly arrived, the pool boy already cares about everything required and this with a pleasant one, Spanish charm.
A pool bar and one of the four restaurants of the house, the "Arena Beach" border to the pool area. One can enjoy sideboard and show cooking here both in the morning and at noon. On the big terrace one has a marvellous view of the sea and the gardens.
In the evening one can choose between three very different restaurants.
In the "Al Andalus", the Spanish restaurant, all is typical Andalusian. Rustic furniture and beige stone floor and characteristic, Spanish items of furniture. Up to the smallest detail everything matches and is decorated very tastefully.
There is a Mediterranean ambiance in the "Paris- Roma", both the menus and the facilities spray a breath of the south. Related to the facilities style, Mediterranean originally means: the use of natural materials. So also in "Paris- Roma".
The colour of the sky and the sea prevails and this in a soft, bright and pleasant tint. All accessories fit themselves in expertly. The menu card is marked by fresh vegetables and fruit, much fish and seafood as well as a fantastic meat supply. Of course the whole is completed by brilliant wines.
Who prefers the Asian cuisine dines in the "Asia Fusion". The kitchen is a mix from Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai. Also here the facilities match excellently to the topic. Much black and red determine the atmosphere of the rooms. Buddha figures and the likes of him line the straight walls and niches. Unusual plates form the table decoration.
Who has tested all four restaurants, has the pain of the choice. Because everything is excellent in its own way. At last only the preference to a certain variant decides. The waiters do a first-class service. They are very courteous and what we have valued very much: one did not to have wait for a long time at the menus, everything passed smoothly into each other.
And the dinner on the terraces at mild evening temperatures, candle jitter and the banana leaves rustling in the gentle breath of wind was a double pleasure for us in November.
As generously the architecture of the building arises of the outside, so it is in all areas inside of the hotel.
The lobby with reception impressive by different, great sitting areas, splendid flower arrangements and a modern chandelier, which seems to be fixed really in the sky. Because a broad glass dome extends over it which lets shine the hall in bright light.
The hotel rooms and this are approx. 200 spreads out on several floors, everything has a magnificent sea view, private terraces or big balconies. The simplest of the rooms are the deluxe double rooms which cannot be compared with conventional double rooms. 38 sqm, equipped with noble, dark wooden floors. Being like a ship deck, one goes on a high-gloss polished surface. And solid dark wooden furnitures adorn the room.
The bathroom is just as extensive, equipped with appearing marble, whirl bath tub, double washstand, separate toilet and generous dressing wardrobe. A cost-free WLAN connection is natural.
If the surroundings and the hotel itself were not so wonderfully beautiful, one would never leave his room. Furthermore junior suites, splendid suites and deluxe suites are bookable.
The most excellent area of the hotel is the Thalasso Spa. As one of the biggest Thalasso Spas of Spain, this already received several awards of most different organisations.
The different facilities which represent a Thalasso Spa spread out on over 1500 sqm. Many hotels advertise with Thalasso but the true, genuine cannot be found in many places.
The Gran hotel Elba Estepona belongs to the few in Spain which acts in accordance with the detailedness and the strengh according to the specified regulations for Thalasso. The Thalasso Spa is in an extra complex of the building, so that a legendary place supply is existing at different levels.
The interior is laid out after a Roman example without any kitsch. Sand stone illuminates the rooms in addition to the great panorama windows. Big columns interrupt the spaciousness and three salt water basins stand prominently in the middle of the Spa.
Several Jacuzzis, saunas and Hammams are arranged on the verge. Experience showers, an igloo, Laconium, different rest rooms, a relaxing garden and the treatment rooms round off the supply.
The choice of treatments is very versatile. Whether now Shiatsu, aromatherapy or various massages. Our massages were executed by experienced physiotherapists and were excellent.
After our Thalasso day with a final massage all conceivable pains were past and we were wondrous recovered.
The Thalasso centre of the Gran hotel Elba Estepona has a pioneering system of the seawater extraction and storage which enables the influx of the seawater over a distance of 250 m. The whole is completed by a disinfection system for water with use of ultraviolet photocells.
Already alone these devices makes the Thalasso Spa of the Gran hotel Elba Estepona for a unique experience, not to mention the nice Spa staff and the medical service. Adjacently to the Spa, a modern physical fitness room with Technogym equipment of the newest generation is located. Also here again wide panorama windows with view into the garden.
Due to the mild climate, the good traffic connections, the beaches and the hospitality of the Andalusians, this country has developed into a golf destination of first class within the last few years. At present Andalusia disposes over 86 golf courses and has therefore the largest number at golf courses per square metre in all of Europe.
In the surroundings of the Gran hotel Elba Estepona one has the possibility of playing in a radius of 40 km on 35 golf courses. Tee time reservations at reduced greenfees are directly bookable at the reception.
For also giving consideration to business travellers, the hotel also has 5 business rooms equipped excellently.
Gran hotel Elbe Estepona- for us a hotel which one can visit the whole year. Whether as a summer holiday with the family or as a short break for in between for tanking new power- the good flight connections to Malaga make it possible. Anyway it unites the most different needs and it is always worth for a journey.
