Yachthafenresidenz Hohe Düne
“like a little seaport”

Seagulls whitewashed like into a white
colour pot turn their rounds over the mole,
numerous sail and motor yachts rock to
and fro in the light breeze at the wood
footbridges. And quite thick besides the
Aida arrives the port of Rostock.
The “Yachthafenresidenz Hohe Düne”
has secured the best place of Warnemünde
for itself. On a headland to the east of the
new current, away from hurly-burly and
port atmosphere a hotel world one`s peers
revealed in the year 2005.
About 370 rooms and suites spread out
on several buildings. The names of the
rooms like Captains suite or Boats Cabin
rather reminds of a ship than to a hotel.
The double rooms have any comfort.
Even a little library with librarian ladder is
available.
All rooms have modern marble baths.
The junior suites are a little bigger and
the bathrooms have a whirl bath and
sometimes a sauna.
In principle there are two equipment
variants: In rooms held whitely or how
could it match better, equipped with
noble mahogany wood and brass.
Our Latte Macchiatto tastes twice as good
on the terrace of the Café Roma directly
at the water. The choice of cake, gâteaus
and ice variations is very big and one
hardly goes past to it.
11 bars and restaurants spray city
atmosphere. To mention the most
important ones: Newport-Fish- the
traditional fish restaurant- the menu
cart here is variously, from the flounder
fillet up to the seafood plate.
Amarillo steak-the steak restaurant,
da Mario- Italian kitchen to grandmothers
recipes. Brasserie- French kitchen,
Mayflower-the gourmet restaurant.
All restaurants are fitted out with a lot of
love of detail- nationaltypically aspects
are put into scene expertly and deduced
with maritime facilities.
In all restaurants one has an excellent
farsightedness on the open sea, large
ferries leave and arrive the port several
times on the day. Gigantic cruise liners
let just as never wait for himself for a
long time.
The Rostock port is the port in Germany
with the most attempts per year. In 2006
alone 150 at the number. Wanderlust?-
no- in these surroundings a foreign word.
Because here we feel comfortable.
The entire plant hotel buildings and a
congress centre are included is built with
sand stone colours. It could also stand
on Majorca or Miami.
The congress centre is the ideal place for
events of every type. Whether company
events or private celebrations the
ambiance and existing technology
convince in any case. Up to 720 persons
find place here.
After our café timeout we stroll through the
maritime shopping street with numerous
cute shops which is parallel to the
promenade. At least a small holiday
present must be. Unusual living
accessories, noble underwear, rare
children's toys, beautiful jewellery,
maritime collector objects and alone
handmade chocolate from Austria-
we decide tomorrow!
On the complete water side stairs made
of noble wood arranged how little platforms.
A beautiful place for enjoying the sun and
simultaneously watching the ships at
parking. Like the name already says the
“Hohe Düne” is not an ordinary hotel but
has also their own Marina with legendary
200,000 sqm of surface of water and
approx. 750 landings for boats. Boats
with up to 60 m of length can berth.
The ones who do not have a boat of their
own also were not forgotten. The rent of
ships both with or also without Skipper is
possible. Who does not have a sail
certificate yet has here the opportunity.
Who would rather enjoy the water and the
sun ashore lays himself on the fine sandy
beach which is attainable with only few
steps. A canopied beach chair service of
one's own is of course also available.
A plant... where no boredom arises
certainly. One can exercise strength,
movability and staying power in the
physical fitness lounge equipped
innovatively. Heart circulation training
on the most modern equipment with
LCD monitors and other extras, Kinesis
training expects its visitors in impressive
atmosphere with hemp, bamboo and
noble woods. Of course the sporty offer
is thereby not to end.
After we could not really decide for a
holiday present we decide to visit the
“Hohe Düne” Spa. Our expectations were
high. A new Spa with over 4200 sqm,
one has certain ideas.
The “Hohe Düne” Spa is a world tour
through 11 countries. Scandinavia with
the Swedish massages and the Finnish
sauna, France, origin of the beauty
secrets of madam Pompadour, Italy
with its thermal springs, Greece known
for Thalasso. The Orient, symbol for the
ceremony of the Hammam. India the
cradle of the Ayurveda, Hawaii- the
birth place of the Lomi Lomi massage.
The complete area is subdivided into
under-, middle-, and upper deck.
3 floors which are thought-out separated.
In the under deck among others there
are Laconium, Caldarium, an originally
Turkish Hammam with a real Hammam
master, Rasul bath, rest rooms, an Aqua
motion relaxpool with 35 C ° warm water
which also can be rented quite privately.
The under deck is marked by dull bright
Egyptian stones, columns and solid rustic
wood doors. Many small loving details,
like the noble cushions in the rest room
or the small niches in the walls let seem
everything very genuine and modern.
There is a Men's Spa for real and pithy
men. We have never seen before such
a Spa for men only. It reminds a little
of the wild west. Bath like in wood
bathtubs, a traditional face shave and
much more let even shine the still so
rough street cowboy in a new gleam.
Because sometimes also real men
need a break!
In the middle deck we meet the great
pool. With its 22 m of length and 10 m
of breadth it is excellently suitable for
the lane swimming. Numerous couches,
a part at the big panorama window with
direct view to the Baltic Sea and an
open fireplace, as if it derives from
"Gullivers journeys with the giants"
invite to a comfortable relaxing.
Also the smallest ones were considered
with a small separate child pool.
The sauna area has a bio, Finnish, and
earth sauna. Brine and flavour steam
bath and a Kneipp cure waterfall.
At the Spa bar one can order full-time
what the heart desires.
We go on the upper deck where the
beauty area is. One feels already at
the entrance as if one enters a noble
ship. Dark, high gloss ship floor parquet,
beautiful exotic flowers, heavy noble
curtains and genuine decoration objects
from all sirs' countries up to the smallest
detail.
My favour finds an ancient wood small
cupboard which well used on a journey
to serve as a little dressing table.
Therapists covered in saffron coloured
garbs look after us from the first minute.
Every Spa suite is unique in its way.
Today on the first day we go to Thailand
into the Sea Spa with a magnificent view
to the open sea and we get to know the
royal Thai ceremonial.
A body peeling with exotic essences of
coconut, spices and lavender free the
skin from unnecessary ballast. Warm oil
spoils the skin and afterwards we float
in linen watered milk compresses on the
water-bed... really royal.
Our second day got crownedly with the
"golden lotus" in the private Asia Spa.
The Asia Spa, among others arranged
with steam bath and a dark high-gloss
polished wood bathtub in which I
immediately fall in love, is probably the
most beautiful room.
The whole variety of the Ayurveda
blossoms at the golden lotus ritual.
Already at the herb footbath I forget
all strains and the Asia Spa seems to
be truthful on another continent. An hour
whole body oil massage fortify this feeling
of the endless liberation. And the 20-
minute front oil affusion with a pleasant
warm sesame oil brings me into a
condition like in trance.

Our expectations were fullfilled and exceeded by far!
The “Yachthafenresidenz Hohe Düne” does not offer only us adults a variety
programm but also children a motley experience programme in the
“Käpt`n Blaubärs Club”. An especially for it built pirate ship is enthroned in
front of the main entrance. Games consoles in the charthouse, child studio,
telling stories stage, climbing deck and trampoline invite to raging and gaming.
Everybody gets one`s money worth at a holiday in Warnemünde and the
“Hohe Düne”. Warnemünde has been a recognized seaside resort for 10 years.
The air is enriched with a healthy iodine and the seawater is with its salt content
of 0.9% like that one of our body so that its minerals can easily be taken over
the skin.
