Inspired by many journeys to the Near and Far East, the hotel owners Gerlinde & Gerd Theilen, shared a vision of how to design a hotel, located in the beautiful landscape of Flensburg.
The vision came true in April 1999, when after only two years of construction it first opened its doors to public. Entrusted by the hotel owners, Christina and Bernd Storch have been managing the “Alter Meierhof” since then.
The name “Meierhof” originated in the Middle Ages. Appointed by the Duke of Glücksburg, the administrators of a manor were called “Meier” (lat. maior). In former times such a “Meier” had been residing where now the “Alter Meierhof” is situated. Corresponding to old manor architecture the light sandstone and the half-timbered construction is reminding of this historic ground. |
Her you have an exquisite view of the Flensburg Fjord, one of Germany’s best sailing spots. Also you will not even have to miss the charm of the Danish coast. |
