Hotel Villa Padierna, Thermas de Carratraca, is a historical retreat which offers
finest holistic healing in Europe.
The original spa dates back to the beginning of the 18th century when the
extraordinary medicinal properties of the sulphurous waters and springs that
surrounded the small village of Carratraca became almost legendary. It was
the Romans, and later the Arabs who first discovered the health benefits of
the waters flowing from the heart of Sierra Blanquilla. Although local tradition
state that it was the shepherds who were the first to recognise the healing
properties of the waters of Carratraca and used them to treat any sick animals
amongst their flocks.
Villa Padierna, Thermas de Carratraca, offers weight loss and rejuvenation
programs combined with an organic calorie controlled Mediterranean diet,
hydrotherapy treatments, chromo therapy, aromatherapy, music therapy as
well as physical activities and meditation. Nestled in a tranquil rural setting
with first class luxury facilities, “Las Thermas” are designed to promote health
and beauty in a balanced way. In order to get the best out of the treatments,
stays of 1 to 2 weeks are recommended. However guests are able to enjoy
shorter stays to get to know and enjoy the installations, the health and beauty
treatments.
Star features of the resort are the sulphurous spring waters and facilities. The
medicinal mineral waters of the spring of Carratraca contain a unique combi-
nation of the minerals sulphur, calcium and magnesium and have been
awarded in several occasions with gold medals. |
Situated in the foothills of Sierra Blanquilla, the small village of Carratraca is
known as the Diamond of Malaga and its sulphurous spring waters have been
recognised since Roman times as some of the best in the world. Carratraca
reached its zenith in the 19th century when it became a popular spa resort
amongst the nobility and aristocracy and visitors included illustrious figures
of the times such as Lord Byron, Empress Eugenie of Montijo (wife of Napoleon
III) and the Prince of Asturias and future King of Spain, Fernando VII, Rainer
María Rilke….

The cuisine at Villa Padierna, Thermas de Carratraca is inspired by the
nutritious and therapeutic properties of its ingredients. Dishes are designed
around the best seasonal organic produce from the local area.
The beverages variety includes mineral waters from all over the world, herbal
teas and juices which complement the effect of the calorie controlled diets.
La Condesa Restaurant:
Exclusively for in-house guests participating in our programs. The restaurant
does not serve alcoholic beverages.
Emperatriz Restaurant:
Serves guests not participating in the weekly programs and outside visitors.
It offers a delicious healthy Mediterranean menu.
El Patio Andaluz:
As long as the weather allows breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the
patio of the hotel.
The Lounges El Príncipe and El Deseado:
Exclusively for in-house guests are the ideal places to read, play table games
and enjoy the chimney.
The Juice Bar in “Las Thermas”:
In summer season the bar delivers also service to the outdoor pool, Jacuzzi
and terraces. |
Way out : Málaga Airport
Leave the airport through Avenida Comandante García Morato (for about
0,7 Km.) and then take the exit toward Málaga Center.
Take the exit towards Cartama/PTA/Universidad/Palacio de ferias y
Congresos, which will link you whith A-357 (for about 25 mills.).
Go in Carratraca through MA-442 till the junction (1.07 mills.), where you
will find directions to the Hotel.
