The village of Tirolo is a true jewel embedded in the Italian Alps. Thanks to its good position above Merano and its mild Mediterranean climate, Tirolo has always been a favourite holiday resort and place of residence. Its several historical sights testify its long and eventful past.
Directly from the village centre a unique panoramic path offering a beautiful view on Merano and the Adige Valley takes visitors to one of the best preserved examples of medieval architecture: the ancestral Castle of Tyrol, which gave its name to the entire region. The Castle hosts the provincial museum of history and culture providing an overall view about the early settlers of this alpine region. In close vicinity you will find the Bird Care Centre which offers pure wildlife adventure and spectacular daily flight shows.
The picturesque village of Tirolo represents an ideal starting point for walks and hikes in the surrounding area. 70 km of marked hiking trails invite you to explore the unspoiled nature from the valley to the sunny slopes of the Küchelberg hill at 600 m of altitude and further on to the Spronser lakes situated at 2,500 m.
In a single day you can admire the beautiful orchards and vineyards of the valley floor, the green alpine meadows, the romantic mountain huts together with clear lakes and snow-covered mountains. The nearby Nature Park Texelgruppe - the biggest of all South Tyrolean Nature parks - exhibits one of the most beautiful landscapes of the region.

In Obermais/Maia Alta, on the way from Tirolo to Merano, are located the famous Botanic Gardens, which recently have been named "Italy's Most Beautiful Garden 2005". In the middle of the gardens you will find the wonderful Trauttmansdorff Castle, once vacation resort of the Austrian Empress Sissi, and the Touriseum, the only museum in the Alps devoted exclusively to the history of tourism.
Right in the city centre of Merano there is now a paradise for those who love water and its beneficial effects: the new Merano Thermal Baths. In their avant-garde look they offer pure wellbeing on a surface of 7.650 sq m. 25 pools, 8 saunas and steam baths, a modern fitness centre, an innovative spa & vital centre and a comfortable bistro provide relaxation and rejuvenation for body, mind and soul.
Not far away form Tirolo golf lovers will find the perfect place where to spend their leisure time: the Golf Club Passiria.Merano. Payment: you are kindly invited to settle the invoice by cash. We accept credit cards (Visa, Euro and Mastercard).
Cancellation: EU norms apply. Please give us notice in due time; we will try to be as tolerant as possible.
Room cancellations up to 30 days prior arrival are not charged. If notification of cancellation is received less than 30 days before your arrival, you will be charged the whole amount of the booked period. For this reason we recommend our guests to take out our convenient cancellation insurance. The premium amounts to about 50 Euro per family and week. |
