The seed of the grapes have a high share to Procyanidin. Procyandinin (OPC) is an antioxidant. In turn antioxidants are scavengers, which inhibit harmful oxidation events in the body. They reduce the effect of free radicals. Free radicals are agressive oxygen molecules which one are responsible for genetic defects, they can trigger cancer and also can lead to an early skin ageing. E.g. free radicals arise from industry- and automotive exhaust emissions like also at the conventional respiration of oxygen. The special at Procyanidin is its cell protective effect which is 50 times stronger than this one of vitamin E and 18.4 times more strongly than vitamin C. In this high concentration it happens in only one food- the grape core.
