One does not have to travel far to experience unusual. Travemünde is one of the seaside resorts of Germany which offers unforgettable for every taste.
Lying directly at the Baltic Sea, is the big beach cared except for the last grain of sand with lovely place typical canopied beach chairs and the very beautiful designed seafront which invites to extensive strolling.
The touristy interesting small town further offers the largest one ferry port of Europe. Without really being exposed to the hustle and bustle one enjoys and marvels at coming and going of the big ferries or other ships- absolutely also unusual rarities. One finds absolute quiet in the next surrounding- a little forest, walk and bicycle paths and natural also golf courses. The 10. oldest golf course of Germany founded in 1921 situates directly at the steep coast over the Baltic Sea. Another two golf courses are settled in the near surroundings, golf plant Timmendorfer beach as well as the Maritime golf park Baltic Sea.
Not for nothing the Baltic Sea place
does not have no lower advocate than Thomas Mann who wrote in his diary: In Travemünde, the holiday paradise where I have spent the undoubtedly happiest days of my life, the sea and the music contracted an ideal, an emotional attachment in my heart". And it is called in the "Buddenbrooks": Summer holidays at the sea! Did anybody understood far and wide what luck this means?"
In Schleswig-Holstein at a fine sandy, 8 km long beach and nowhere such broadly as otherwise at the German east sea coast is located the Columbia hotel Casino Travemünde. The beautiful former casino Travemünde expects us in the "Columbia" with 73 guest rooms and suites. Renovated in original style of the outside the hotel gets inside- thanks three styles (country house, classical style and modern age)- a different charm.
At the reception a modern one, nevertheless classic interior expects us. The employee at the reception welcomes us heartily and does not only care about the formalities but guides us to the basic orientation on the way to our suite past at some facilities, like beauty & Spa.
The relaxation already starts in the room, we are welcomed with sparkling wine, fruit and chocolates. The suite is generously and tastefully established in the classic style. The big window front lets the nature into the inside of the room in the living quarter. The garden terrace with lovely stylish wood furnishings and a big linen parasol invites to staying for hours. The view is wonderful over a big garden on the promenade and the open sea.
In the first evening we want to have a good time and dine in the, honoured with 15 Gault Millau points, gourmet restaurant "La Belle Epoque". In the 2nd floor situated and interpreted as a winter garden restaurant the impressions outflank us- this one of the culinary art, of the excellent service, in connection with the unforgettable view over everything away on the Baltic Sea. Examined in the evening lovely and romantically. To round off the excellent evening we take a cocktail in stylish ambiance in the bar " Seven C club, ". Very impressive, the enormous choice of spirits in a room high and room wide showcase in the noblest dark wood.
In the next morning we breakfast in the "Il Giardino" on the terrace at the most beautiful sunshine and enjoy the excellent and extensive breakfast sideboard with many self prepared North German specialities- which award the sideboard an unusual note. One can eat round-the-clock in the "Il Giardino"- inside of the restaurant just as beautiful like on the terrace. Mediterranean pleasures are served at noon, the evening can be led by a "motto".
In the morning we stay respectively in the hotel and use the supply of the numerous treatments in the beauty & Spa area which is not only accessible for hotel guests. An eased quiet streams through the premises. Gentle candlelight, natural room smells and calming sounds accompany the treatment and put us into a regeneration of body and mind. Every Spa room bears its name and a corresponding scene hides behind this. Products of highest quality, among others Borghese or AJARAN, let feel the luxury and one enjoys the application in full trains and one would like that it never comes to an end.
We enjoy, the 80-minute "Balinese massage", a traditional diversion massage, which resolves hardenings and blockades and improves the blood circulation- a wonderful alternative to the classic massage. Primarily one can enjoy the deeply felt, pleasant diversion because we do not leave immediately the premises after the application and may return calmly in the reality again.

Of course one can use the physical fitness-, Spa- and sauna area for every time during the day. The big swimming pool is modern and the accompanying illuminated glass wall exudes depending on hue change, different atmospheres. The modern saunas and steam baths cause relaxation and strengthening of the body's defences at the same time. The newest Cardio and strength equipment optimizes the circulation training.
