It had a reason that the gods had chosen just Greece as their domain. A landscape high in green, lush valleys, high mountain massifs and fine sandy dream beaches and an azure blue water similiar like that one of the caribbean. Like already before thousands of years the visitors succumb also today to the beauty of Greece. Who was in Greece once comes again and again. The beauty of the country and the calmness and kindness of the Greek are contagious.
The well-known Greek hotel group Grecotel has made it it`s business to spoil demanding tourists from all sirs' countries at the most beautiful little places of Greece. So also on the southernmost part of the Greek mainland the Peloponnese arose a hotel complex of the extra class. A journey to the Peloponnese is a journey in the past. Ancient places like Sparta, Corinth, Epidauraus or Olympia are all on the Peloponnese. One finds nowhere else so many sights on the smallest room in Greece. An infinite coast with enchanting bays, beaches and ports, godless villages, agile towns, numerous temples and a flora diverse in spring.
Already at the landing in Araxos we are clear in our mind that this will be a special holiday. We espy fighting machines and other military facilities from the window of our holiday plane. The pilot shows us that no photos may be taken at the airport because it is an military airport. Here above at the utmost corner of the Pelopponnese only this airport serves up to now twice per week to bring holiday-makers to the obvious vacation spots.
We feel us 20 years younger because it seems that the time here has stopped- from the obvious city of Patras, meanwhile a city metropolis one can nothing feel- and nevertheless despite little building and only 2 passport control counters everything goes on without problems and our suitcases appear already after short time on the band-conveyor so that our holiday can now finally start. In front of the building a special Grecotel taxi waits only for us. The journey leads us through almost untouched nature. Wide planes with olive groves, meagre rock landscapes and little typically Greek villages alternate.
Our eyes can hardly notice the many details, like the men in the street café, the old women who sit in their small front gardens directly at the street. Because the comfortable life of Greece does not apply to taxi-drivers. After forty-five minutes driving time we reach the Grecotel Olympia Riviera and are already very curious on the next week.
All formalities are finished, the suitcases are brought away of the service personnel and we are astonished not badly. At the end of the great and with much style established lobby the holiday-makers sit on the spacious hotel terrace and enjoy the probably most beautiful side of the hotel life in quiet meditation- peaceful moments with view on the gentle eyelash blows of the sea. Also we immediately forget the wet and cold weather in Germany and inhale almost this fantastic view.
The size of the entire plant can be foreseen only approximately. The Olympia Riviera resort is a world for itself, lies on a 1.5 million sqm area and consists of 3 hotel complexes: the All Inclusive Resort Olympia Oasis,fantastic for families. 313 rooms therefrom most different variants of the classic double room up to beach villas, 4 swimmingpools which merge spirally.
Here a water slide for an ultimate water fun, there a waterfall and the even vis-à-vis the flow channel which magically attracts both children and adults. At a higher level away from an active hustle and bustle a quiet pool with long laps- one has the feeling as if the pool would seamless merge into the sea. The complete plant is built in terraces into the slope, sand stone colours the buildings, everywhere small ways trails in a well-tended garden. Hibiscus, Frangipani, bougainvillea and other exotic flowers spray their blaze of colour.
Tall palm giants line the ways. Our room lies right above so that we have a fantastic view from our terrace on the events all around. Twinkling pools in the evening and the glittering of the sea on the day. Several restaurants and bars provide the whole day for the refreshments. The choice is versatile, international but also customary dishes can be chosen every day.
Dinner on the restaurant terrace, Greek wine, a red-hot setting sun, which disappears at the horizon in the sea and an easy sea breeze- this is a perfect holiday- best we would like to stop the time. By the way the service personal is extremely nimble and courteous and one feels nothing of the southern calmness which is much admired and otherwise mocked simultaneously.
After dinner one goes to the lower part of the plant. The pool bar virtually lies over the beach with many comfortable seats under appearing wood roofs. Candle glimmer and banana trees roaring in the evening wind produce an idyllic atmosphere. In the evening the life happens here. Comfortable get-together or animation shows in the free air amphitheatre of one's own. It never gets boring, children of all age enjoy the rampage in the late evening.
The second hotel of the resort the Olympia Riviera Thalasso disposes of 208 rooms, 2 restaurants, a freshwater pool roaring over three levels. Only Bed and Breakfast or half-board is bookable. The Olympia Riviera Thalasso is rather the place for couples, wedding travellers or families who are looking for a little more quiet.
The most exclusive hotel facility of the three is the Mandola Rosa. 33 suites and villas established of the finest spoil most demanding guests. The villas of Mandola Rosa have small pools respectively of their own, 2 bedrooms and a living room. The villas are built architecturally like a square with a small free air atrium so that they can absolutely be lived in by 2 little families.
Who let bring his meal into the villa can spend completely undisturbed holidays away from any contacts. The main house is equipped with noble marble, unique objets d'art and noble fabrics. The Mandola Rosa belongs to the hotel union The Leading Hotels of the world what speaks for a unique exclusiveness. All 3 hotel complexes are edged by a 2 km long private, fine sandy beach, the Kyllini Beach.
Only few metres afar from the pools there are free couches with cute bast sunshades for every guest. There are sufficiently couches also at the pools. Annoying arranging of couches is a foreign word in the Grecotel. Water sportsmen find an absolute Mecca on the beach of the Olympia Riviera. Windsurfing, canoe, Jet ski, catamaran etc. and that only few steps away from its couch.
Even water is the decisive element in the Olympia Riviera and plays the dominant role par excellence. So a 4.500 m ² Thalasso centre is in the midst of the area. Majestically like in the old days the main building of the Spa sits enthroned highly above and shines with its white columns as gloriously as once the Zeus temple in the ancient Olympia. Greece's biggest Thalasso centre does not leave any wishes unfulfilled.

A big inside pool, surrounded by colonnades, open Air Whirpools, further inside pools, saunas and steam baths, hydrotherapy etc. more greatly. A broad pallet of treatments is offered in 30 rooms and Spa suites. Affusions massage, algae and mud compresses, hydrotherapy, Physio and kinesitherpy, aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage, Shiatsu and names like Magic Honey Elixir, Ancient Spirit Elixir etc.
An absolute highlight is an open air massage under flowing tissues, moving in the breath of wind in one of the free air Spa suites. And also the original Ayurveda directly of the origin can be found exclusively in Greece only in the Grecotel. An Indian doctor takes care lovingly of his patients and how already the Greek goddess Hera, wife of Zeus, he keep too a jealous watch over all treatments.

From the single Ayurveda massage up to 28 days lasting treatment programs, like weight reduction, Panchakarma or rejuvenation therapy is possible. In addition, all known physical fitness courses take place and the pounds tumble in the Gym with most modern Star Trac Cardio-equipment.
And how should it be different, the Grecotel has thought of a Convention centre. Not only a meeting room, no an especially for it built building with 5,000 m2 of area are available. Several rooms which can be turned individually, the most modern technology and most beautiful wall and ceiling architecture with columns and niches are an ideal framework for the next company event or the forthcoming family party.
Our holiday week passed too fast- past with the sunbeams sparkling in the cloth slippery sea, past with the stylish dinners, past with the elated and anyway calmed way of living. One says who was once in a Grecotel who guaranteed comes back. We only can agree with it. We stay longer next time.
