Hotel ADLER Spa & Sport Resort *****
The queen of the Val Gardena

The Val Gardena is an about 25 km long valley of the Valle Isarco and lies in the northwest of the South Tyrolean Dolomites. Here lies places like Selva, S.Cristina and Ortisei.

In the best known place of the Val Gardena in Ortisei the original Ortiseiterhof turned in the first tavern by the family Sanoner in 1810. Within the following years after 1870 it turned into a stately hotel. At 1910 the house already had an electrical illumination in all rooms as well as English indoor plumbing and telephone. In 1934 already more than 220 beds, running water in all suites, lift and car garage. The indoor swimming pool which was an absolute novelty was made in 1970. The beauty farm "Dolasilla" opened its gates in 1989.

As one sees, the Spa & sports resort Adler as it is called today, was always an example for innovations. So nothing has changed to this day.

The Adler consists of several hotel wings and is embedded in a 9000 m ² big hotel park. Despite its immense size the Adler remained a family-owned enterprise and it is lead now already in the 8th generation now by the family Sanoner. The spirit of the family is noticeable in the complete house.

In the middle of the downtown lain directly at the pedestrian zone this Adler has the best place. For skiers and hikers ideal start to the surrounding ski and walking areas. Opposite the hotel the gondola leads to the Seiser Alpine pasture and rolling ribbons lead directly of the hotel garden to the gondola on the Seceda. It cannot be at all more carefree and comfortable.

The Adler is a contact point similarly for couples like also families. It has a regular customer share of 70% what shows the success of the house. Children of all age feel comfortable in the child club of their own. A varied animation programme up to child Spa takes place from 9:30 to 22 a.m. The peewees are picked up at the house and brought back again, too by their ski instructors in winter. So the mommies and daddies can make use of the worldwide biggest coherent skiing area with its 1220 piste kilometres. Alone or also with Thaddäus, the ski and walking guide out of the house Adler.

Also golfers are in good hands because first in 2006 quite nearby, in Kastelruth a 18 hole golf course arose.

All the 87 rooms are equipped comfortably and modernly whether in the ancient hotel section or in the new Vital residence. There is a pleasant cosy atmosphere in the original house and one almost can feel the story of the house. The imposing wood stairwell, the old ruins and the home bar could tell stories filling up the whole evening. The Vital residence is based on the style of the old building.

One is spoiled round-the-clock by Willi Larese, the chef, for now 17 years, within the ¾ gourmet catering.

In the evening of our journey we are completely starved after a 5-hour journey and yearn for the dinner. We get a very beautiful table assigned directly at the big panorama window. The restaurant is set up very comfortably and extremely tastefully. Modern crystal lights produce a quiet and idyllic atmosphere. The starter sideboard is of the finest and we have not experienced such for a long time. Seafood in the most various creations, for us already the half rent. The breakfast buffet is just as versatile and exquisite. The afternoon snack with home-made cakes, confections of patry, and ribald Tyrolean specialities satisfies the first hunger after an eventful day- whereever.

We enjoy primarily the big, light-flooded winter garden at a Latte Machiatto, the view of the imposing South Tyrolean mountain peaks at pleasantly clean air here in the bar area. Because here like also in the entire hotel is an absolute smoking ban. An absolute must for a Spa resort.

The Dolasilla vital world fulfils all wishes and interruption is a foreign word here. A pool landscape arose on over 3500 sqm ² only in summer 2006 as it is unique in the Dolomites. Beautyful, more beautyful, most beautiful- fantastic and sensational is the correct paraphrase for the Aguana water world. The name Aguana is from Aguanes, the mysterious water spirits from the Dolomites sagas. This magical magic fulfils the still so most undreamt-of ideas. Several inside and outside pools distributed on different levels, invites even in snowy winter to pleasant bathing. One enjoys the massif of the Dolomites like in unresolved condition in the crystal salt cathedral. One can extensively relax in the lovingly and cultivated laid out park with pond and petting zoo.

The Spa area is heavily writeable with words. One should experience it itself. For giving a small foretaste, here a statement of our impressions.

Quite conventionally we start our tour at the Spa reception. As ordered in the circle, the water-beds with crystal niches line up on a gallery. We are not bound to relax a couple of minutes. Strengthened with new vitality we stroll through the sauna world built like into a tower. Enchanted, round stairs wind to below to the mountain lake with waterfall and skirt us at the most different saunas and steam baths, Kraxenofen etc. As hit of stone and without any kitsch, these surroundings appear. Also new is a sauna only for women.

Muffled light, vague red tones and lanterns. Noble, cushions piled up on the relaxing beds and other reality faithful accessories let me wake up in Arabian Nights. When entering my look roams from corner to corner up to under the red streched canopy roof. Suddenly it seems if if I stood in the middle of a splendid tent from Aladins world. A low temperature sauna, the Lady rose bath, lies at the end of the "tent", staged just as expertly.

I have made up my mind already now although I did not have seen yet everything: my quite personal favourite room, my oasis of quiet like I never seen it before and I always imagined without knowing how it shall be. But also this experience has an end. So we stroll further on the traces of the designers of this fantastic Spa area. A door hides the latest highlight the Adler Spa, the underground salt lake with salt stone sauna. The biggest of its type which we have seen till now.

Mystical, dark illumination, the big white tree show to advantage wonderfully in front of the dark grey walls... the tension increases... below on the right side there is a sole grotto on which it is worth to float. The pleasant warmth of the water increases the desire at "floating". After a good half hour we leave the underworld back upward to the light.

The list of the applications reads itself like an exclusive menue plan and straight off one cannot make up his mind so properly... so we let ourselves be advised at the Spa reception. We receive detailed information about all applications and are informed about free appointments and duration of the offers. It is absolutely advisable to book its Spa applications first of all or latest at the beginning of its stay because the demand is great. After an extensive introduction we decide us for a couple application, the Orient trilogy, but only for the next day.

Because we still have plenty of time, we go on on reconnaissance. Our way leads us into the upper floor to the panorama sauna... a wood sauna extensively and with a big panorama window by which one can enjoy the mountains. Even for not sauna visitors a challenge. From the out whirlpool directly next to the sauna one has an even more magnificent view.

Since we had enough Spa for today now, we go onto our room. On the way there we attracted attraction of the "Adler physical fitness world", a physical fitness area of its own kind. Big panorama windows, a little splashing rill as well as top physical fitness equipment and a room for the most different physical fitness courses. 350 m ² for the exploiting and relaxing. We take part at the most different courses which there are and we were completely enthusiastic.

Not in any hotel before we loved physical fitness so much. Excellent coaches motivated us and corrected even smallest practice mistakes. Despite ample and good meal the pounds tumbled on the scales. Whether now personal coaching or therapy, almost everything is possible in the Adler. Even Medical Spa is aside with advice and deed in the "Adler Med".

Another wonderful day in the Adler is gone, beautifully on the one hand, sadly, on the other hand. As arisen from another world we feel after our Orient trilogy. Every smallest detail matched. The Spa suite was unique and the beautician was fantastic. Consisting of steam bath, peeling, nice-smelling bath, an agreeable whole body massage the Orient trilogy is a quite special experience what every couple should allow himself... more is not betrayed here. (This ritual has to be booked also alone).

As mentioned already, one should already request a Spa price list before his stay. Then only in such a way one has to be ensured that he comes in the full pleasure of the Dolasilla beauty world. If one should be overtaxed at the large supply as a start, the kind employees help at the choice by phone. Because Iam massage, Tecar treatment, Midhi massage or a Kalari treatment are not surely a term to everybody.

Even in so far as cosmetic line is concerned the Adler has not slept and created its own line with edelweiss and raspberry. Both plants are rich at vitamins, trace elements and other healing active agents. All products of the new cosmetic line "Alpine Experience "are freely of preservation as well as chemical pigments and therefore particularly agreeable for the skin.

The day of the departure has come and how a German proverb says: in the farewell is the birth of the memory.

The hotel Adler- a quite special hotel which leaves only beautiful memories!
